The company “Azarabadegan Aras Steel Complex” is one of the subsidiaries of the “Foulad Aras Industrial group”. It was established in 2013 on a 35-hectare site within the “Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone,” with the purpose of producing various steel products. In the same year, the first phase of the complex was initiated, aiming to establish a continuous melting and casting plant for various steel ingots with a capacity of 180 thousand tons. Leveraging the expertise of engineers from Padideh Foulad Aras Engineering Company, the first phase was commissioned in 2020.
Padideh Foulad Aras Engineering Company, a subsidiary of the “Foulad Aras Industrial group”, was responsible for the complete construction and operationalization of this project.
By merging the combined expertise and valuable experiences of its workforce, the company successfully produced high-quality products in accordance with global standards, incorporating state-of-the-art technology. Within just six months of commencing operations and achieving its nominal capacity, the complex embarked on exporting its manufactured goods to European and Asian countries.
The implementation of this project resulted in the direct creation of four hundred job opportunities and a thousand indirect job opportunities, significantly contributing to the economic development of the Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone by improving employment conditions.
Situated within the Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone, the establishment of this complex not only facilitated easy access to water from the Aras River for use in the production lines but also strategically positioned it for exporting to northern borders of the country and entering the markets of Eurasian and European countries.
Technical Specifications of the Complex:
– Two 25-ton induction furnaces with a power capacity of 12 megawatts.
– Two Continuous Casting Machines (CCM).
– A dedicated power distribution station with a capacity of 70 megawatts.
– A dust collection system (dedusting) with a suction capacity of 240 thousand cubic meters per hour.
– A scrap iron processing site equipped with pressing and cutting machines, covering an area of four hectares.
Development Plans of the Complex:
– Expanding the production capacity of steel ingots.
– Diversifying production into various alloy steels.
– Establishing hot rolling lines for the production of long and flat steel sections.
– Producing sponge iron.
– Manufacturing ferroalloys.
Technical Specifications
The nominal capacity of this complex is to produce 320 thousand tons of steel billets per year, which will be implemented in three phases. The operation of the first and second phase of this complex has been put into operation with two sets of 25 ton induction furnaces made by Inductotherm company with a power of 12 megawatts and an annual production capacity of 160 thousand tons of steel billets with dimensions of 150 x 150 mm.
This complex has a dedicated 132/20 KV substation with a nominal capacity of 200 MW, which is currently being used with a power of 10 MW and will increase to 20 MW in the near future with the start of the second phase.
